Here is my list of must have memberships the whole family will enjoy:
This is our list of memberships we love to take advantage of all year. I must also mention if you are a family of 5 or more, it’s definitely a cost savings to join, and then you can extend that visit to more than just once a year.
- Brookfield Zoo – Yes, Lincoln Park is Free & cool if you live in the city. We prefer to stay local if possible. So if you live in the burbs, Brookfield zoo is a great membership to have. They hold events throughout the year, are always renovating for improvements, and it’s a great place to go just for a long walk. Check out their page for individual and family packages. Oh and parking is included in your membership fee. Bonus!
- Field Museum – We are big on history at an early age for our homeschooling so The Field Museum is a great membership to have because of this. Unfortunately parking is not included, and you’ll end up spending about $22 for the day. On the flip side you are next to the lake, The Adler Planetarium, and The Shedd Aquarium. For us… totally worth it. I would say the age range for this one is 7+. Unless you are like us and introduce History a lot earlier. Then I would recommend 5+.
- The Science & Industry Museum – This museum is great for all ages & they have their own parking garage. Parking is included in your membership. This museum has several “Free Days’ throughout the year including the weekdays in the month of September. Keep in mind the museum is enormous, and you won’t cover everything in one day. Hence why you’ll want a membership.
- The Morton Arboretum – What can I say about this one? Lovely. They host several events throughout the year as well. Parking is included in the membership. This is a vast space of walking. Take a stroll to see the vast colors and the seasons changing.
